Ange Mlinko and Brenda Iijima in a dream last night. Ange had published an amazing book full of color photographs and aesthetic philosophy. I remember being inspired by how the book moved from and beyond poetry. It was a little bit like Gins and Arakawa’s The Mechanism of Meaning, or some exquisite textbook or coffee table book.

The NY Times weather forecast for tonight reads “moonlit skies, cool and calm.” Is that the forecast for NEW YORK? Aside from being somewhat implausible [our skies are lit by NEON], it sounds like Shelley or something.

Sign

Sign affixed to the cyclone fence on the overpass for the Prospect Expressway near my building, viewable by commuters:

BUSH CAN’T VETO THE PEOPLE

(unrelated musing: is it just a coincidence that VETO is an anagram of VOTE?)

Urban Glamour, Anyone?

Not an urban legend: Gary got up to use the restroom at around 4 this morning and I heard him shriek. There was a rat in the toilet. He flushed it down, but we are freaked out. We’re on the fourth floor! What the…?

It could have swum up the pipes or come down through a roof pipe.

Last year, readers of this blog may remember, rats devoured a bag of my shoes in the storage room. Do I just have bad rat karma?

These two guys look an awful lot alike to me. Are we sure that Obama isn’t Toscano with some bronzer and a new ‘do?

It’s not just their physical appearances, but their manner and way of talking, too. Am I the only person to have remarked on this?
