Oh god, I love halvah. I don't think of it as dry, though. It is flaky and granular with an undertone of actually slightly moist voluptuousness. It satisfies my “halvah” craving, but not my “dry” craving, which can be satisfied by roasted brown rice (like the kind in genmai cha) gourmet crackers made with olive oil corn nuts etc. I suppose there is an element of “dry,” then, that includes “crunchy.” I hasten to add that all of these foods give me TMJ.
ornamental croutons
pumpernickel pretzels
halvah?
